The sale was held at the Chinchilla Showgrounds Friday 29-01-10.
Inspections started at 11.00am and the Auction started at 1.30pm.
Sheep Producer’s came from near and far to purchase rams from the Trimac Poll Dorset Stud – Ram sale.
50 well grown Poll Dorset Rams were on offer with buyers mainly from the Tara/ Meandarra areas. Although the main buyer at the sale was from Winton. Cameron & this father Leo Woltmann purchased 13 top rams.
Other buyers were Trevor & Meredith Thompson Tara brought 4 rams, Fits Family Meandarra 5 rams, Garry Ellis Tara 4 rams, and Wilson family 3, Beard family 2, Neal family 2, Glenshaw Past 2 and the rest went into the near by local areas.
Top priced ram of $850.00 went into the Jandowae area with the sale achieving a nice average of $600.00 for 50 rams sold by auction.
With mutton and lamb prices at high rates producers should be looking at value adding to their productions and a joining to a terminal sire is great way to add value to old or surplus ewes for sale.
